Sacre Bleu! Syrah
This is not for the faint hearted. Deep down inside, this wine does have the heart of stone minerality and spice, but currently it is all hidden behind the wall of intense black and red fruit and massive structure. Long life ahead, if you manage to keep your hands off it...
Tasting Notes
Tasting Date: 11/12/2006 Deep purplish red; opaque center. Very intense, archetypal Syrah nose of inky/Violets and black pepper, with hints of medicine cabinet in the background. Sweetly fuity upfront, with deep ripe berry and plum flavors, massive structure underneath, excellent intensity and balance. This is of course very very young and raw, but not harsh at all. It begs for extended aging and will repay the patient... or at least have it with a juicy steak, venison, or lamb roast if you are compelled to consume it at this stage.
