Holy Moly!
A rich wine combining flowery intensity with gamey complexity and herbal minerality. Perhaps somewhere around Rasteau or Vacqueyras on steroids in style, but still showing the tell tale Clos Saron spice and minerals at the finish.
Tasting Notes
Tasting Date: 11/12/2006 Medium garnet color. Intense, complex nose of black pepper, Sierra brush (that's our version of "Garrigue"!), mountain flowers, ground meat, cocoa, spicy herbs and smoke. On the palate it is intensely ripe and fruity upfront, with strong spicy and gamey notes following, finishing on chocolatey tannins and minerals. The texture is rich and fine-grained. Very young and a little rough at the edges or disjointed at this stage, should improve vastly with a couple of years in the cellar.
